Biography

Since completing his basic medical training at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and subsequent post graduate trainings at the University of Yaoundé- Cameroon and The Free University of Brussel-Belgium, respectively, Dr Sammy Orock OBEN has worked as a Physician and later as a General/Plastic Surgeon at various Christian missionary, governmental and other health facilities within his native Country Cameroon and the Central African sub region of CEMAC.

Dr. OBEN voluntarily disengaged from services at The Apostolic Church Cameroon medical services in 2011 and focused on advocacy and strategic health policy, social services, impacting health care in vulnerable societies and sustainable community development in Cameroon and other central and west African countries. Together with his wife, Mrs. OBEN Dorothy Manyi, in 2011, cofounded WECCARE FOUNDATION: A non-profit organization with its headquarters in Simbock-Yaoundé, Cameroon with actives covering countries of the CEMAC zone.

In 2012, Dr OBEN founded Hadassah Hospitals Cameroon and became the pioneering Chief Medical Director of its maiden medical facility at Simbock-Yaoundé, Cameroon. He is also the current head of Department for Plastic, Aesthetics/Reconstructive surgery and Regenerative medicine at Hadassah Medical Centre, Simbock Yaoundé. Dr Oben is the leading SMILE TRAIN partner Surgeon for OROFACIAL Cleft reconstruction in the CEMAC zone countries of Central African region. He is certified member of the Cameroon Medical Council and a founding member of the Cameroon College of physicians and Surgeons.

He is married with 5 children and the family lives in Yaoundé Cameroon.
